Google voter info gadget

Today Google launched a voter information mapplet and gadget that I built (with help from some talented people at Google).

It’s a simple little application that just looks up voter registration information for your address, and later this month will also display your voting location. They are going all out to promote it, with a link on the main Google home page, and a cool video with a few faces you may recognize:

Now go register to vote, or Leonardo will never speak with you again!

Congrats on the launch, Michael! Very cool app.

By the way, I told Mika Tuupola that I’d pass on his tweet: “Bit confusing that https://maps.google.com/vote/ does not work but https://maps.google.com/vote works.” Wonder if that’s something that Google can fix. Simple apache/.htaccess change.

Looking forward to seeing the voting location info added later this month.

I’ve been trying to get this to work on the iPhone. All I really want is to be able to have the map full screen on the iPhone. I wouldn’t mind tracking WI votes, but really care about the entire map.

Unfortunately just not familiar enough with the code to understand how to hack it up myself … and the w=h= stuff in the URL doesn’t seem to do what I think it should.

Got a top-secret URL I could use?

Great app!
